The New Rush Hall School Outreach Service consists of 10.6 teachers. We have an Outreach Coordinator and a teacher in charge of the primary outreach team and administrative support.
We aim to provide a comprehensive service, which will enable mainstream schools to meet the needs of pupils experiencing BESD. This will be accomplished through support for teachers and pupils in the context of the whole school, thus minimising the need for placement in a special school. The service is committed to equal opportunities. This is demonstrated through our policy, procedures and practice in maintaining pupils in their schools and integrating pupils from The New Rush Hall School, when appropriate.
All staff are skilled and experienced in working with youngsters who can present concerning or challenging behaviour and are able to offer support for both pupils and staff.
Our range of interventions include consultation, observation, joint planning, giving feedback and advice to staff, individual work, small group work, in-class support and the delivery of INSET.
Those of us who work with some of the most challenging pupils know how worrying these pupils can be. Our hope is that our team can help to create a thinking space as we reflect and plan on how best to meet the needs of all the children with whom we work.
A more detailed outline of the work of our service is contained in the Outreach Handbook which is available to download here.
