Constance Bridgeman Centre

The Constance Bridgeman Centre is a pupil and support learning centre for year 10 and 11 students for whom mainstream schooling is no longer a viable option due to their social, emotional and behavioural needs. The majority of the pupils have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools, or have been on the verge of exclusion, and some have statements of SEN. In year 11 all pupils study towards a range of GCSE examinations.

The Centre was judged to provide an outstanding service to its students in its most recent Ofsted inspection.

Our Pupil Parent/Carer handbook is available here.

We work closely with the John Barker Centre, and Redbridge Tuition Service, 2 other Redbridge PRU’s  to  ensure continuity and to cater for individual and changing needs.

Aims and Objectives of the Provision
The overall aim of the PRU is to facilitate active inclusion into adult society as a whole. To achieve this we provide a positive environment in which pupils who have experienced difficulties in other provisions now have the opportunity to succeed and to realise their full potential both socially and academically.

The objectives of the PRU are:
  • To provide a stimulating and secure environment which will ensure pupils are motivated and which will enable effective learning.
  • To provide a broad, balanced and integrated curriculum, relevant to the individual pupils needs.
  • To prioritise pupils' achievements both academic and social, and communicate them to all concerned. This includes providing opportunities to achieve accreditation such as GCSE. Pupils can also achieve an ASDAN  Award.
  • To encourage students to develop a sense of responsibility and personal identity, and a recognition of spiritual, moral and ethical issues within society.
  • To work in partnership with students, parents and carers to foster good communication, understanding of respective roles and mutual respect.
